Seasonal Updates for Autumn.

As the night’s draw in and the temperature slowly drops, we’re preparing our homes for cosy nights and evenings spent drinking hot chocolate on the sofa (specifically Coco Chocolatier’s hot chocolate). With the on-set of chillier weather and earlier sunsets, we begin to add in cosier elements and tones that compliment the ever-changing Autumnal colours outside our window. Simply introducing warmer, more earthy colours in your textile choices (like terracotta, deep greens and shades of rust) can really help to update a space. Small, decorative changes like changing up the linen on the bed, adding in some warmer coloured prints, plant pots and vases, or simply adding interest to a windowsill by arranging plants and candles all help with the process of welcoming Autumn.

If you don’t want to overhaul your colour palette, there are practical changes we can make for the colder seasons ahead; building up our beds and sofas with additional textiles will add an extra layer of warmth, updating or rearranging our throws basket so our heavier blankets are on top, storing our Summer clothes to make way for our heavy knits and wooly socks and adding in warmer design elements into our home styling (now is a brilliant time to invest in a rug to warm up those wooden floors!) These are all perfect changes for the inevitable chillier evenings that are on there way.

It doesn’t need to cost a fortune to prepare your home for this seasonal shift, simple and practical style changes really do make all the difference and changing our home fragrance in the form of candles and diffusers (musky, woodier or spiced notes are the ideal fragrance for Autumn) can be enough to get us in the mood for all that Autumn brings. It really is the little changes that’ll make a big difference!

How will you be making your home cosier this Autumn?
